The woman behind Informal is me, Tiia Suomivuori. I’m a 36-year-old MA who majored in translation studies and specialized in technical communication. My minors included Finnish communication and psychology. The subject of my master’s thesis was intermedial translation.
I’ve worked as a freelance translator since 1998, while raising a family and completing my studies at the University of Tampere. After getting my degree in the beginning of 2006, it was time to realize another long-standing dream and become a private entrepreneur.
I equally enjoy translating fact,
fiction, and technical manuals, both on paper and on-line. In all communication,
I am interested in usability, readability, and accessability while topics
especially close to my heart include children, pedagogics, learning, interior
decoration, and old motorcycles. In my opinion, there can never be too many
good instruction manuals, nor too much good humor.
